I often wonder if the art of hobbies and doing crafts are slowing dying out in our younger generations. Electronics have taken the place of sewing, knitting and doing things with our hands and minds. Most of us who do crafts learned from our mothers or grandmothers, who passed down their crafty skills to us. Wouldn’t it be a shame if the art of crafting became less significant in our society? Our children are sitting behind their computers playing video games in virtual worlds and socializing on the internet. What a different world we live in now than when I was growing up.
If you’re a crafter, I encourage you to pass on your skills to your children, nieces and nephews and grandchildren. Yes, boys can be crafters too!
Would you like to see classes for kids at the Getaway or perhaps mom/daughter featured classes? Leave us a comment if you’d be interested in these types of classes, or if you would be interested in teaching a class.
Read this article relating to how crafts help kids develop better motor skills. I believe it helps them with social skills in a non-stressful environment also. What about you? Are you ready to make crafting a family affair?
